VeriFactu and B2B e-invoicing: frequently asked questions

Get answers about VeriFactu, invoicing systems (SIF) and B2B invoicing, and how to adapt without changing your ERP.

In this article you will find answers to the main questions about VeriFactu, Computerized Invoicing Systems (Sistemas Informáticos de Facturación, SIF) and B2B e-invoicing, as well as information on how Ubyquo Central eFactura can help you adapt your invoicing processes without having to change your ERP.

What is VeriFactu?

VeriFactu is the name used to refer to one of the ways of complying with the requirements that the anti-fraud regulations set for Computerized Invoicing Systems (SIF).

Invoicing systems must guarantee, among other things, the integrity, inalterability and traceability of invoicing records.

There are two main modes:

  • VERI*FACTU: the system sends the invoicing records to the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT).
  • Non-VERI*FACTU: the system does not send them automatically, but it must meet additional security, traceability and integrity requirements. (sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es)

When will it be mandatory to adapt invoicing systems?

The deadlines currently in force are:

  • January 1, 2027: taxpayers of Corporate Income Tax (Impuesto sobre Sociedades).
  • July 1, 2027: all other taxpayers within the scope of application. (sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es)

What is B2B e-invoicing?

B2B e-invoicing is the mandatory electronic invoice for transactions between businesses and professionals.

Law 18/2022, on the creation and growth of companies (Ley Crea y Crece), established this obligation, and its implementing regulations have been set out in Royal Decree 238/2026.

The Spanish e-invoicing system will consist of private exchange platforms and the public e-invoicing solution. (boe.es)

VeriFactu and B2B e-invoicing: are they the same thing?

No. They are different obligations.

VeriFactu / Computerized Invoicing Systems

It relates to how invoicing records are generated and managed by computerized invoicing systems and to the integrity, traceability and inalterability requirements set by the regulations. (sede.agenciatributaria.gob.es)

B2B e-invoicing

It relates to the issuing, transmission and receipt of electronic invoices between businesses and professionals, within the Spanish e-invoicing system. (boe.es)

Therefore, a company may have to comply with both regulatory frameworks, depending on its situation.
